Media Says Trump No Longer A GOP Kingmaker, You Agree?

Trump Family Breaks Silence On Ossoff’s Attack

Eric Trump is strongly defending White House aide Natalie Harp after her estranged brother publicly criticized her close working relationship with President Donald Trump, adding another layer to a controversy that has quickly become a national political story.

The president’s son praised Harp as an exceptionally dedicated White House employee and cancer survivor while taking aim at CNN and rejecting the criticism directed at her.

“Natalie is an incredible young woman — a cancer survivor, a genuinely good person, and arguably one of the hardest-working people in the White House,” Eric Trump wrote Wednesday on X.

He added that Harp is deeply committed to President Trump, her responsibilities and the country.

Eric Trump also blasted CNN after the network aired an interview with Harp’s estranged brother, Preston Harp, who questioned his sister’s intense devotion to the president.

The controversy comes as Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff of Georgia has also drawn Natalie Harp into his political attacks against Trump, turning a White House staff member into an increasingly prominent figure in the 2026 political debate.

CNN Interview Puts Natalie Harp in the Spotlight

During a Tuesday CNN interview, host Erin Burnett discussed a reported October 2023 episode involving Harp and President Trump’s motorcade.

According to the account discussed by CNN, Harp reportedly wanted to accompany Trump but was informed that there were no remaining seats available in the motorcade.

She then reportedly traveled in the rear cargo area of a support vehicle.

Preston Harp described the episode as “actually kind of sad” and characterized his sister’s devotion to Trump as unhealthy.

Eric Trump quickly pushed back.

Rather than accepting the characterization presented during the interview, he defended Harp as a loyal and hardworking employee who has demonstrated extraordinary commitment to her responsibilities.

His response also reflected a broader frustration among Trump supporters over the intense media attention surrounding people in the president’s inner circle.

Who Is Natalie Harp?

Natalie Harp has become one of President Trump’s most recognizable aides because of her frequent presence at his side.

Her official White House responsibilities include serving as a special assistant and executive assistant to the president.

Harp has accompanied Trump during travel and golf outings and has frequently been seen near him at Mar-a-Lago and other locations.

One of her more unusual responsibilities involves ensuring that Trump has printed copies of articles, documents and other information he wants to review.

Harp has consequently been seen carrying a portable printer while traveling with the president.

She also assists with Trump’s social media operation, reportedly typing and posting messages dictated by the president.

Those responsibilities have placed Harp unusually close to Trump during his daily routine and have contributed to growing public interest in her role.

Harp’s Cancer Battle Helped Establish Connection With Trump

Harp’s history with Trump dates back years and includes a deeply personal story involving her battle with cancer.

Harp was diagnosed with bone cancer and publicly credited Trump’s support for “Right to Try” legislation with helping her pursue treatment after conventional options had failed.

The federal Right to Try Act, signed by Trump in 2018, was intended to expand access to certain experimental treatments for eligible patients facing life-threatening illnesses.

Harp later publicly thanked Trump and eventually spoke at the 2020 Republican National Convention.

Her account of how the law affected her treatment has faced questions from medical experts, but Harp has continued to credit Trump with playing an important role during one of the most difficult periods of her life.

That experience appears to have helped establish the personal loyalty that has remained central to her relationship with the president.

Personal Letters Draw Additional Scrutiny

Recent reporting has also focused on letters Harp reportedly wrote to Trump.

The messages reportedly contained highly personal expressions of gratitude and loyalty, including referring to Trump as her “guardian and protector.”

Trump reportedly responded positively to Harp and praised her battle against cancer.

Critics have pointed to those messages as evidence that Harp’s relationship with the president deserves additional scrutiny.

Trump allies, however, have portrayed the situation much differently.

They argue that Harp is a cancer survivor who developed tremendous gratitude toward a president she believes helped give seriously ill Americans additional treatment options — and later became an exceptionally loyal member of his staff.

That disagreement has helped transform what might ordinarily have remained an internal White House staffing matter into a national political controversy.

Jon Ossoff Targets Trump Over Natalie Harp

The issue gained even more attention after Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-Ga., invoked Harp while criticizing President Trump during a political rally in Atlanta.

Ossoff accused Trump of being more interested in personal projects and travel than carrying out his presidential responsibilities.

The Georgia Democrat specifically mentioned Harp while making his case against the president.

The comment immediately generated controversy, particularly among conservatives who questioned why a female White House staff member was being personally drawn into an attack against Trump.

Ossoff subsequently addressed the controversy during an interview with Jen Psaki.

He argued that his criticism was ultimately about the people surrounding Trump and whether senior White House officials are willing to challenge the president.

“They’re not telling him what he needs to hear,” Ossoff said.

Instead, the senator argued that Trump is surrounded by people who tell him what he wants to hear.

Ossoff tied that criticism to national security, arguing that the United States cannot afford such a situation while facing serious international challenges.

Eric Trump Comes to Harp’s Defense

Eric Trump’s response presents a dramatically different picture of Harp.

Rather than portraying her loyalty as a problem, the president’s son described it as evidence of her dedication.

His defense emphasized three elements of Harp’s story: her cancer battle, her character and her work ethic inside the White House.

That message could resonate particularly strongly with Trump supporters who have grown skeptical of media coverage involving the president and members of his administration.

It also raises a larger question about whether unelected White House staff members should become personal targets during heated election-year political campaigns.

Presidents have historically relied upon small groups of trusted advisers and assistants who spend extraordinary amounts of time with the commander in chief.

Such relationships can naturally attract scrutiny because those aides may have significant access to the president.

But there is a difference between examining an aide’s influence over government policy and turning that individual’s personal relationship with a president into political ammunition.

That distinction is now becoming part of the debate surrounding Harp.

Controversy Could Become Part of 2026 Election Battle

The timing is particularly significant because the 2026 midterm elections are approaching.

Ossoff is fighting to retain his Georgia Senate seat in one of the country’s most closely watched political contests, while Republicans are seeking to strengthen their position in Congress.

That environment means virtually every dispute involving Trump can quickly become campaign material.

For Democrats, the Harp controversy provides an opportunity to raise questions about the people surrounding the president and whether Trump receives sufficiently independent advice.

For Republicans and Trump supporters, however, the episode could reinforce concerns about political opponents and national media organizations targeting individuals simply because they are personally loyal to the president.

Eric Trump has made clear which interpretation he accepts.

He sees Natalie Harp as a cancer survivor and hardworking White House aide whose loyalty to President Trump is being portrayed unfairly.

As political pressure intensifies ahead of November, the debate surrounding Harp may ultimately become about much more than one presidential aide.

It could become another example of the larger battle over Trump, the media, Democratic opposition and the people the president trusts most inside his White House.
