Rosie O’Donnell is making headlines once again after delivering a startling prediction about President Donald Trump’s future during a nationally televised interview.
The longtime Trump critic appeared on CNN Friday, where she was asked whether she still plans to remain outside the United States until after the next presidential election. Her answer quickly sparked discussion across social media and political circles.
CNN host Jake Tapper referenced O’Donnell’s previous comments that she would consider returning to America only when she believes the country is once again safe and guarantees equal rights for all citizens.
When Tapper asked whether that meant she would return after Trump’s second term ends in January 2029, O’Donnell responded that she doesn’t believe the president will still be in office by then.
“I don’t think, Jake, that he is going to survive that long,” she said.
O’Donnell also claimed that she believes Trump’s public appearances show signs of decline. She cited several recent verbal mistakes made during speeches and international events, though she did not provide medical evidence to support her opinion. The White House has not announced any serious health concerns involving the president.
Among the examples she mentioned was an appearance in which Trump briefly mixed up Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with Russian President Vladimir Putin before correcting himself.
She also referenced another public event where Trump appeared to mistakenly refer to Iran while speaking, arguing that these moments raise questions about his fitness for office.
Tapper mentioned another widely discussed verbal slip, and O’Donnell agreed, saying she believes such incidents are becoming more frequent.
The comments are the latest chapter in a feud between Trump and O’Donnell that has stretched for nearly two decades.
Following Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election, O’Donnell moved to Ireland with her teenage son, saying the political climate influenced her decision to leave the United States.
Trump later fired back on Truth Social, criticizing the comedian in multiple posts and suggesting he was considering revoking her U.S. citizenship. Constitutional scholars have noted that a president cannot revoke the citizenship of someone born in the United States simply because of political disagreements.
In one post, Trump described O’Donnell as “a Threat to Humanity” and said she should remain in Ireland. Weeks later, he again criticized the actress and comedian in another message on the social media platform.
Despite the ongoing political battle, O’Donnell remains active in entertainment.
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel recently announced that she will guest host Jimmy Kimmel Live! during part of his summer vacation, joking that the decision would likely frustrate President Trump.
According to Entertainment Weekly, O’Donnell is scheduled to host the program for one week beginning August 17.
The latest exchange highlights that one of America’s longest-running celebrity political feuds continues to generate headlines, with both Trump and O’Donnell showing no signs of backing away from their long-standing rivalry.
