Bernie sent a clear message to Trump.

Sen. Bernie Sanders believes the progressive movement is entering one of its strongest moments in years, and he’s making it clear that he sees President Donald Trump as the biggest obstacle standing in its way.

Ahead of the Fourth of July holiday, the Vermont independent released a lengthy video message celebrating recent victories by Democratic Socialist-backed candidates and left-wing activist organizations. Sanders argued that a growing number of Americans are embracing progressive policies and suggested the nation could be approaching a major political turning point.

The longtime senator pointed to the large crowds attending his “Fight Oligarchy” rallies and the nationwide “No Kings” demonstrations as evidence that momentum is building.

According to Sanders, millions of Americans have participated in these events, which he believes reflects increasing frustration with the current political system.

His remarks came shortly after another victory for Democratic Socialists in a key local election. In the Denver metropolitan area, candidate Melat Kiros defeated a 15-term incumbent, adding to what many progressives view as a growing list of electoral successes across the country.

Sanders also highlighted several other developments that he believes demonstrate the movement’s strength. Among them were a proposed billionaire tax initiative earning a place on California’s statewide ballot, expanding labor union organizing campaigns, and public opinion polls showing historically strong support for organized labor.

Taken together, Sanders argued these developments suggest that the political movement he has championed for decades is gaining real traction.

While acknowledging that no one can predict the future with certainty, Sanders said recent events have given him renewed confidence that the Democratic Party is on the verge of significant change.

He argued that simply opposing President Donald Trump is not enough. Instead, Sanders said Democrats must fundamentally reshape their party and adopt a more aggressive progressive agenda if they hope to succeed in future elections.

Sanders also predicted that progressives will play a leading role in challenging Trump’s policies in the years ahead while pushing for broader structural changes inside the Democratic Party.

His comments highlight the growing divide within the Democratic Party as progressive activists seek greater influence over the party’s direction. At the same time, many conservatives continue to argue that the increasing influence of Democratic Socialists signals a dramatic shift to the left that could become a defining issue in future elections.

With the 2026 midterm elections approaching and the battle for control of Congress intensifying, the ideological struggle between the Democratic Party’s progressive wing and more moderate members is expected to remain a major national story. Sanders’ latest remarks are likely to fuel that debate even further as both parties prepare for the next election cycle.
